ABOUT US

NTU Hall of Residence 4 came into existence on 25th September 1988, when 500 Nanyang Technological Institute undergraduates left their humble abode- Block 914 of Jurong West (Hall A) to become the pioneer residents of our hall.

Hall 4, also known as the House of Ohmers, is located at 11 Nanyang Circle, just opposite Yunnan Garden and beside Nanyang Lake, which provides its residents with beautiful scenery.

Why the name Ohmers? In NTU early days, we were an engineering-based university. So when Hall 4 just began, the people in the hall were mostly engineers. They wanted to give hall 4-ers a name. In their discussion, the word Ohm came up. Ohm is a science term engineers are familiar with. So they thought it sounded close to Home. They hope hall 4 can be "a home away from home". And that's how it's derived. From ohm, become Ohmers.

The hall is located near Pioneer Road entrance of NTU and boasts its very own bus stop right in front of the hall. By talking Bus Service 179 from Boon Lay Interchange, students are able to alight directly in front of the hall. In addition, the hall is within walking distance of 10 to 15 minutes from schools in NTU's South Spine, such as WKWSCI, HSS, and NBS.
